Even though it was described as a ground breaking contract format at the time, it has proven to be a highly successful venture between two business partners. The acquisition of the stainless steel manufacturing plant in Heilbron was considered to be a contentious issue at the time due to FlexiFleet’s relative aversion to the manufacturing industry and the skills base required to operate such a business successfully. These fears were dispelled by means of the take-on of all artisans from Clover as well as the critical demand that the Clover fleet presented. Production output was increased by more than 600% during the first year of operation under FlexiFleet ownership and continues to grow on the back of demand for tankers within the transport industry.
