Embracing Change and Lateral Thinking in Body

FlexiFleet earned its place in the fleet management industry through the acquisition of Clover Transport in 2004, albeit that the company has been actively involved in the leasing and fleet management industry for more than two decades. Over the past couple of months much has been written and speculated about the success of the business model that was offered to Clover SA. Even though it was described as a ground breaking contract format at the time, it has proven to be a highly successful venture between two business partners.

The acquisition of the stainless steel manufacturing plant in Heilbron was considered to be a contentious issue at the time due to FlexiFleet’s relative aversion to the manufacturing industry and the skills base required to operate such a business successfully. These fears were dispelled by means of the take-on of all artisans from Clover as well as the critical demand that the Clover fleet presented. Production output was increased by more than 600% during the first year of operation under FlexiFleet ownership and continues to grow on the back of demand for tankers within the transport industry. External customers have been gained to a level where production for the Clover fleet has been relegated to a secondary level.
